Stores with English language books

Most of the selection of children's books and educational supplies are in the Dutch language, but for grownup books and mags, you have a couple of options to buy in English. You can buy also online in the UK. Stores and supermarkets around the suburbs and city, stock a varying range of magazines and books in the English language also.

Donner are the largest book store in Rotterdam and have a reasonable selection of books, travel guides and magazines in English. Ask at the information counter where you need to go. The store covers over five floors and mezzanine levels.

Suppliers of books from age of eight onwards, grownup literature. They also host in the "Treehut"; open mike night, book readings and exhibitions. You can buy online from this website and they will post to you. The shop is worth a visit however.

Language guides and dictionaries worth purchasing:

You can generally find the dictionaries at most large book stores, such as Donnet, De Bienkorf also have a good selection.

There are other books that will give you some clue of the Dutch psyche that make interesting reading when it all gets too much. They give you the "Oh, that's why" moments of clarity and help you feel better about your frustrations.
