Alternative therapies

Outside of the mainstream medical system, you can also find alternative therapies such as Homeopathy, Osteopathy and Chiropractic care. You do not need a referral from your huisarts for this type of care. Check your medical insurer if you are covered for alternative care as osteopathy and homeopathy may not be covered, it can be pricey. There are a number of databases to locate practitioners closest to you. Most practitioners will also provide treatment for children.


Homeopathy (Homeopathie)

The VHAN (Vereniging van Homeopathische Artsen in Nederland) is the nation-wide association of homeopathic doctors, most of whom have trained at the SHO (Stichting Homeopathische Opleidingen), the training facility for homeopathic doctors in the Netherlands. When you are looking at a homeopath, check that they are registered with this organisation.
